Every year we resolve to do something new, something different or just be better in some way. Sometimes we decide to keep things the same – and there is nothing wrong with either option.

The point is that when we realize we are writing our own story, our minds and hearts open to new ideas and ways of thinking. We might realize that we like things as they are, or maybe it is time for a change. Either way, understanding what works for us is the key. Writing our own story isn’t complicated. We make decisions every day that influence our lives and the lives of those around us. Being mindful of them is what makes the New Year so awesome. While we can resolve to do things differently or the same any day, the New Year gives us a prime time to make this decision.

Maybe your resolution is to spend more quiet time alone, sipping your favorite wine while you read a new book or binge watch Netflix.
